Aviation Company

"My interactions with UMR have been nothing short of excellent. UMR makes an excellent effort to understand the client's requirements; UMR is budget conscious and provides quotes that are realistic and reflective of the resources required to complete the job; the presentation of UMR's findings is clear and concise; UMR's staff are professional and experienced; UMR clearly understands the pulse of New Zealand and this enables making business planning and decisions much easier."

Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry

"UMR conducted a major consumer research project that encompassed qualitative and quantitative fieldwork. Despite working under tight time pressure, UMR delivered an excellent study, which has significantly added to our knowledge of biosecurity. We were impressed with UMR's ability to manage a large research project easily, on budget, and on time. The insight that UMR developed during this project has had a major impact on our communications strategy going forward."

Transpower NZ Limited

"Transpower has valued its relationship with UMR over a number a years. A combination of their unquestioned technical expertise and their understanding of what makes New Zealand 'tick' ensures research projects that hit the mark every time."

Growth & Innovation Advisory Board

"The results of this research have challenged many stakeholders' perceptions of what New Zealanders think and feel about growth. They have, however, stood up to scrutiny, being both very insightful and robust. The insightfulness is in part a result of the innovative approach taken by UMR. GIAB is confident the research will be a catalyst in enabling diverse communities of interest to identify what sort of growth will work best for them, and take the necessary actions to improve the quality of life and wealth of their stakeholders, and New Zealanders generally."

EECA

"UMR provide a top flight research service and have always delivered the goods. They are extremely thoughtful and insightful."

Solar Industries Association

"UMR has recently undertaken several surveys to identify what influences potential purchasers of solar water heating systems to purchase a system, and what information suppliers need to provide. We have been very pleased with how UMR has quickly grasped the technical aspects of solar water heating and used this to shape the survey and analyse the results."

Martin Bosley's Restaurant

He still operated at a loss for the next six months and then decided to do something about it. Instead of expensive advertising, Bosley opted for market research. After learning of a few unexpected things he could implement in his business, some within days, he knew it was the best money he'd ever spend. on everything from the font on the menus to the type of glass-ware the restaurant used. "we found out some extraordinary, random stuff". Despite his experience consulting for McDonalds – “where the focus groups are just brutal!” – Bosley found it essential to try keep an open mind ot the things he heard. He mentions the feedback on his big round tables. “People said the tables were so huge and intimidating that they felt like they needed a passport to get to the otherside!” So he took then out and put smallersquares in. He plans to repeat the exercise in another year or so, calling it an essential healthcheck on the business. Now, weekends are booked five weeks in advance, and they’ve added Sundays since June. “Our sign still says “open Tuesday to Saturday” he laughs, “But people like to have a secret about a restaurant.”
